Happy birthday Dad! :) This one is for you as it contains almost all the elements. British classic red phonebox, postal box, old style street sign and dry stone wall. Snapped this one while wandering around a little country village.

Thankee so very much. I absolutely love this one.
Oh, how I miss the villages, rural lanes, countryside & of course the traditional pubs of old England.

What do you need phone boxes for? Seriously when is the last time you saw someone using a phone box. Everyone has mobiles now. Get with the time England...........

They look good that's why.
The same way that traditional post boxes look good, the same way a clinker wood boat looks good, the same way a Cotswold stone cottage looks good, the same way an Indian motorbike looks good, the same way a wooden barrel looks good, the same way a handcrafted tooled & stitched leather item looks good, the same way a dry stone wall looks good.
Oh, why bother? You wouldn't understand.
The world would look like crappy Brisbane - where everything of any
beauty is replaced by roads & skyscrapers if it was up people like you. Things don't have to be used to remain in place.

Thanks Monday-itis for the greeting.

I love the stone wall and the solidity of the building behind it. I agree with Low Rider that there is so much beauty in the rustic and what others would call "primative". Objects crafted by man's hand connect us to our earthly experience... It's ashame when we stop appreciating the works of others that have passed before us.

Lovely photo Klem... thanks for capturing this scene and for sharing :) You're dad should be very proud of you.

Lovely photo, son. Its all about quintessential, aesthetical eye pleasing and traditional. It has no comparison with brain tumour induce button pushing hi tech of the 21st century.I love this photo and I think I'll will use it for my screen saver. Better still, can you get me that converted chapel across the lane. We both very proud of you. LOL
